Chris Wirasinha is Cofounder of Pedestrian, Australia’s leading new media site. Chris and his cofounder launched Pedestrian as a DVD magazine in 2005, before transitioning to a content website two and a half years later. From the outset, Pedestrian produced quality, unique content for a millennial audience. It quickly grew to become Australia’s largest youth network, now with more than 7 million monthly page-views and winner of Media Brand of the Year for two consecutive years. Chris and his team tested, iterated, reviewed and improved the content strategy at Pedestrian over thirteen years. They gained insights and developed tactics that enabled Pedestrian to become a distinctive authority, loved by their audience. They cracked virality and wrote the playbook for how to produce content that gets shared on social media. And they did it at scale. Pedestrian’s grown to a team of 100 and publishes more than 50 pieces of content every day, each with a consistent personality and tone-of-voice and brand values.
